Cult Brisbane fried chicken restaurant Jeon’s Kitchen

Tucked away down Bakery Lane is a casual eatery that is turning out some of the finest Japanese- and Korean-inspired fare you’re likely to find in Fortitude Valley. Jeon’s Kitchen may look cosy from the outside, but the flavours served here pack a seriously big punch. Feasts start small with snacks like grilled edamame, kimchi pancake, deep-fried breaded oysters and chopped octopus sashimi, but it’s best to ensure room is saved for Jeon’s specialty mains, as they’re the undoubted star of the show. If we had to pick a go-to dish, it would be the seafood ramen, which sees a bounty of morsels and chewy noodles bathing in a Korean-style beef bone broth that has been lovingly simmered for hours. If soup isn’t your thing, Jeon’s crispy sweet-and-sour pork, Korean fried chicken and chips, sizeable bibimbap or jeong sik meal sets will surely satisfy. Jeon’s is also a great lunch option, with specials available Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. We’re talking pork bulgogi rice bowls, kimchi fried rice, pork bulgogi and stir-fried noodles with veggies – all available for a steal. On the beverage front, Jeon’s Kitchen stocks hot tea, Korean beer and soju.
